Group Programmes - Benefits of Studying in Groups

The main benefits of studying as part of group programmes at college are clear, as you get to make friends of similar age and ability, you have the opportunity to discuss the subject with in a group both in class and out and there is more a sense of achievement if you are competing with other pupils. Most colleges run group courses in the summer months and they are known as holiday courses. Some are designed specifically for overseas students to come to the UK, learn English and explore our many historic and touristic sights during their stay.

Benefits of Studying in Groups

Al though 1 to 1 tuition will always be the best way to learn particularly if you have difficulty in learning at the same rate as other pupils, if you have gotten behind in your studies because of bullying or because you have spent some time away from school after being ill, studying in group programmes can be more enjoyable and beneficial to quiet quieter students.

Other benefits of group study are the possibility for students to bond and make friends with other pupils as group programmes usually involve a wide range of subject choices and activities including sports as well as recreational past-times. In fact particularly those group courses which are under-taken by foreign students usually include travel excursions to touristic sights and historical buildings most notably in London, but sometimes other cities across Europe dependent upon the college and the available budget and cost of the courses on offer.

So not only can you make friends as part of the academic studies but also the sporting lessons and cultural outings too. It is the variety of activities on these types of courses which aids in the creation of strong friendships with students from other countries and may lead to students ultimately choosing to relocate to this country in the future.

You can more easily find help or in deed provide help to other on your course outside of class if you so wish if you are finding the subject matter hard going or would just like to discuss it in more detail. As you are learning within a group you can compare notes and thoughts on the subject with other members of the group programmes in your free time.

Holiday Group Programmes

A key benefit of studying as part of holiday group programmes is quite simply as you are using your holiday from another course and college to further your education and make good use of your time away from studies. If you are able to benefit from taking part in some sports activities and visit some famous buildings and art galleries as well as have a chance to make some friends along the way, then surely a holiday course is a great way of spending your summer.

Holiday Courses - Educate Your Kids during the Holidays

Holiday courses are a great solution if you are unsure whether your child will benefit from having 6 - 8 weeks off study during the summer months and are concerned what they will be getting up to with their friends in the day whilst you are at work. By enrolling your children on summer courses you will not only ensure that they are supervised whilst you are at work, but that they will be benefiting from additional study and or sports and recreational activities which will keep them off the street and out of harms' way.

Academic Holiday Courses

If your child is behind in one or more of their subjects then choosing to enrol them on an academic holiday programme is the perfect way to ensure they catch up on what they have fallen behind in during the year of school or college. Other reasons for attending summer tuition programmes is to pass one of the years examinations which may not have been passed or may not have been passed at a high enough level for your child to then go onto further education. By catching up in the summer your child has a better chance of not missing a year out by taking retakes the following year as some examination retakes can be taken in September or October in between other studies.

Sports Holiday Courses

Sports holiday courses are a great way of keeping your child busy, out of trouble and keeping fit at the same times during the summer months. Plus if your child is into sport they may well specialise in a certain sporting activity as they may have a dream of becoming a professional athlete later in life and appreciate the extra sports and expertise provided on summer sports courses.

Mixed Subject Holiday Courses

If however you would like your child to benefit from a broad range of both academic and sports lessons during holiday courses most colleges who offer summer courses will be happy to mix and match with your child's personal choice of classes so that they get the most out of their summer. The main advantage of taking part in a mixed subject holiday programme is that you get to meet other pupils with a range of interests both in sport as well as academic studies. Plus, the majority of those students who enrol in such holiday courses are foreign students who have come to England to learn English as part of a fun programme of classes as well as recreational activities and sports.
