Welfare

As hosts to a fully residential international community the issue of welfare is extremely important to us. Our specialist Student Services department is run by full-time experienced staff who are responsible for every aspect of student health, well-being and accommodation.
They also help in supervising evening social events. Our aim is to strike a balance of support where necessary and increasing independence where desirable.
Staff are aware that they are dealing with young people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and are keen to provide a sense of 'family' within the school.
Regular welfare meetings ensure all staff are kept up-to-date on issues involving students, with individual concerns discussed and resolved.
The college also employs a school nurse/matron to deal with health matters, and students may visit local doctors when necessary.
The college welcomes students from all religions. Special arrangements can be made for the observance of any religion, respecting the wishes of parents, including attendance at places of worship.

Accommodation
Various types of accommodation are available, to suit different requirements. The majority of students choose to stay on-campus in one of our residential houses, divided by age and sex, although host families and selfcontained rooms are also available.
Adults over 21 are guaranteed single rooms. All other students on year-round language courses (outside the summer) have 1-4 bedded rooms. Bunk beds may be provided for younger students.
Students receive care 24 hours per day. Dedicated House Parents deal with in-house matters and both check-in and wake-up all under 18-year olds daily. Under 16's receive particular care and attention. Houses have a common room area, and there are separate social areas for juniors and adults. Wireless Internet services are provided in most houses for students with the appropriate equipment.
A weekly laundry service is provided for some items, with washing machines available for extra items. Clean bedding is provided weekly and communal areas are cleaned daily.
Meals
Three meals per day are provided daily on-campus, seven days per week, for all students, and are included in the fees. Brunch may be offered as an alternative to breakfast and lunch at weekends. The college operates a smartcard system, allowing students to purchase extra items if required.

Care is taken to provide not only a balanced diet but also meals that suit international tastes in general. Vegetarian and other special diets, including religious dietary requirements, are catered for upon request and a choice is always available.
Kitchenettes are available in most houses on campus. We also have a 'tuck shop' on campus, which serves additional hot and cold snacks and drinks every day.
